Spoon Sweets

[Γλυκά του Κουταλιού - Glikà tou Koutalioú]

Spoon Sweets are sweet confectioneries popular in Greece, served with Greek coffee and a glass of cold water.  Depending on the time of year, and quality of harvest, fruits used include seedless grapes, berries, bergamot, apricots, apples, pears, sour and sweet cherries, oranges, lemons, tangerines, pomegranates, figs, prunes, etc.  Even soft fruits like melons or watermelons can be thus prepared, making for an exquisite delight.  Other varieties include green-unripe walnuts, pistachios, chestnuts or even some vegetables such as baby eggplants and cherry tomatoes.
