Heather Honey [Erica]‘Μέλι Ερείκης - Méli Eríkis‘ Heather Honey reminds us of the lost pleasures of summer forest-hiking. Produced in autumn, it has an explosive sweetness, delicately strong floral aroma, and wonderful aftertaste. Earthy and grainy in texture. Ideal on rye bread, assorted cheeses, accompaniment to raspberries, cream of yoghurt and warm rice pudding. A sweetener that will not cloud your mountain, herbal or floral teas. The honey’s coloration tends towards a dark orangey red. Heather Honey has antiseptic and diuretic properties, and a particularly high protein content (2%) in comparison with other honey varieties. It crystallizes within 8 to 16 months of production. |
